Who we are and what we do!

We, the "Friends of the City of Gmunden", are an association dedicated to the preservation of our home town. Our interest is the research and preservation of the social, cultural and economic roots of the town of Gmunden.

One of our greatest successes so far has been the rescue of the steamship Gisela. Since 2021, we would like to bring the history of the town closer to the citizens by marking the historical buildings in Gmunden. Thanks to Leader funding, it was possible to equip around 62 historic buildings with QR codes that lead to further historical information. For an analogue journey through the different eras, we designed a free brochure in cooperation with the well-known Gmunden artist Dieter Obermaier.
